Tiger SMS Trades Rubles for Dollars as It Switches to USD-Based Billing

Virtual number provider Tiger SMS has announced a transition to U.S. dollar-based billing across its platform. The change affects nearly every financial operation within the service, from account balances to API-related transactions.

Following the migration, user balances, referral balances, pricing, charges, refunds, and top-ups are now displayed and processed in U.S. dollars. If users were accustomed to seeing everything in rubles, they will now find the platform speaking a different financial language.

Balances Converted, API Updated

According to the company, all existing account balances were converted from Russian rubles to U.S. dollars through a one-time recalculation using a fixed exchange rate. As a result, users do not need to perform any manual conversions themselves.

The update also introduces a change for developers working with the service’s API. The max_price parameter must now be specified in U.S. dollars. Otherwise, the code may end up speaking a different currency than the platform expects.

Account funding is now entered in U.S. dollars as well. However, customers using Russian payment systems may still see invoices issued in rubles, with the final amount calculated according to the applicable exchange rate at the time of payment.
